Bath,
a Unesco World
Heritage Site, is one of Britain's most beautiful cities. It is set
in a valley in the west of England and has the majestic River Avon
flowing gently through it.
In
the eighteenth century, Bath was Britain's most popular SPA town and
it is full of the most elegant, gracious Georgian buildings constructed
in beautiful hone-yellow stone. The
secrets of its famous waters were first exploited by the Romans.
Today, the baths they built are among the finest Roman baths remaining
in Europe with a pool that's still full. And you can try a taste of
the waters for yourself in the 18th century pump room.
Elsewhere
the city offers numerous museums, art galleries and Britain's oldest
theatre - the Theatre Royal. Bath is also an excellent shopping centre.
Also, Bath makes
an ideal base to visit places such as the spectacular Wookey Hole
Caves, the beautiful Cheddar Gorge caves and Longleat Safari park,
home to the Marquess of Bath and the famous Lions of Longleat.
The PLUS Village is located in an independent Girls' School
founded in the 19th century. Designed in the stylish and distinctive
Victorian gothic style, the historic main building is supplemented
by modern additions. They enjoy panoramic views over Charlcombe valley
and across the city of Bath. The Campus is self contained and all
facilities
(residences, classrooms, common rooms, sports facilities and sport
fields), are within
walking distance. The Town Centre can be easily reached by bus which
stops right in front of the School.
