RESIDENTIAL

For young students, staying in a British or American college or university is a life-enriching experience. It provides exciting opportunities to live with, share experiences with and enjoy day-to-day activities with fellow students from different countries around the world. Students are able to practice their English, exchange cultural information and make lasting friendships. Students can benefit from gaining self-confidence and self-reliance in an environment free from risk and danger. The colleges which PLUS use, host British, Irish and American students during the academic year. They often boast extensive grounds, modern and functional buildings and excellent sport facilities. The accommodation is usually simple but comfortable. Girls and boys are generally accommodated in different premises or, if together, on different floors at some colleges. Friends may be able to stay in the same room if they both request it at the time of reservation.

MEALS

At the Residential centres in the UK continental breakfast (cereals, toast or bread rolls, jam, butter, tea, coffee and/or hot chocolate) is provided Monday to Friday and a cooked breakfast (scrambled eggs, sausages, beans etc) on weekends. Lunch and dinners generally consist of a starter such as a salad or soup du jour, followed by a choice of two main courses with two vegetables or "assiette froide" (chicken, cheese and ham salad etc.) dessert and/or fruit and French bread.

HOME STAY

PLUS families have hosted students for many years. They are friendly, caring, kind, courteous individuals who are well aware of the apprehension students may have when coming to a new house. They make vital contributions to the student's happiness, extending a warm and friendly welcome to make him/her feel at home almost immediately, as if they were a new member of the family. The families are not allowed to host more than three students at the same time with no more than two of the same nationality (unless previously agreed). They generally live no more than 45 minutes away from the college on a direct bus/underground line. On the first school day, a family member will either accompany the students to the centre or show them how to get there (and to the city center). Please remember that transportation costs are not included in the price and that even older participants are expected to be back home no later than 23.00 hrs. Host families are all visited before students are placed and are regularly inspected by our local Family Organiser, although in some locations, we use reliable, trustworthy organisations which are well-known to our company.
