FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can students live together with a friend in a host family?
Students can request to stay together with a friend in the same host family, if they are both studying at the same PLUS centre. This request should be made at the time of booking.
Can a friend who is not studying at one of the PLUS centres stay with students in the residence?
No. We can only arrange accommodation for students who are studying with PLUS.
Will students get their own rooms?
All PLUS centres have single rooms. Students can also choose to stay with a host family instead. If they choose to stay with a host family they will share a room and we will always try to ensure that they share with a student of another nationality and a different language so that they can practise English.
Will their homestay be near the school?
PLUS try to find host families as close as possible to the centre. Depending on which city students choose they may spend some time on public transport (tube, bus or train) in order to get to school.
Can students extend their accommodation after the completion of the programme?
We can arrange extra nights if we have availability at the beginning of their stay or at the end.
Can students change homestay if they don’t get along with their host family?
We work with our hosts all year round and we will try and match students up with the homestay best suited to them before their arrival. However, if they are unhappy at their homestay after arrival and have a valid reason, we will look for another family for them. Students should contact the accommodation coordinator at their school if they have any housing issues.
Is accommodation included?
Accommodation is part of the package with PLUS. Students just have to specify the type of accomodation they would like i.e homestay/residence. Not all centres have a homestay option.
If students arrive in the middle of the week, do they still have 20 lessons a week?
Yes, we arrange for make up classes. This may be done by having afternoon classes.
Do students need a visa to enrol onto a PLUS course?
It is dependent on the country where they would like to study at and their rules and regulations
When should students arrive?
Students are required to arrive within 48 hours of the advertised starting date of the course. Failure to do so may result in their being thought independently of other groups.
Do they need to bring books?
All study materials for use in class and for structured study will be provided by PLUS.
What will students do on their first day?
After an orientation tour of the campus, students meet the teaching staff. They undergo a placement test and take part in a general assembly to familiarise with health and safety procedures, as well as with the general oragnisation of the campus.
Do students get a certificate or diploma after the course?
Students will receive a Certificate of Attendance at the end of their course, which will show their level of English, the dates on which they have studied, as well as their attendance.
