Tuscany
Tuscany is one of the most beautiful and popular tourist destinations
in Italy, and is located in central Italy, along the Mediterranean
coast. Tuscany is a gently hilly region, known for its vineyards
and olive groves, with large houses or small settlements scattered
around the low hills. Its rich rolling landscape is complemented
by towns overflowing with Renaissance art and architecture. The
most important river is the Arno, on which Florence and Pisa are
situated, although the Tiber also passes briefly through Tuscany.
Marche
The region lies on the eastern side of central Italy, between
the Adriatic Sea and the high Apennine mountains and much of it
remains unspoilt by the ravages of mass tourism.
True, the Adriatic coast has been a mecca for "sun n' sand"
holiday makers for decades; but few venture far from the beaches.
Inland, perhaps more so than anywhere else in central Italy, you
will find places where time really has stood still. Compared to
its central Italian sisters, here culture comes in more easily
digestible proportions but the quality is often of the very best.
Sardinia
The island is relatively free of large cities or heavy industry,
and its beaches are indeed some of the cleanest in Italy and are
on the whole uncrowded.
Sardinia
offers plenty besides sun and sea - the more so if you are prepared
to venture into its lesser-known interior. If you do, the island
holds some surprises, not least the remains of the various civilizations
that passed through here: Roman and Carthaginian ruins, Genoan
fortresses, a string of elegant Pisan churches, not to mention
some impressive Gothic and Spanish Baroque architecture.
Puglia
After a three-hour flight from London, you'll find yourself among
the huge olive groves (Puglia produces almost half of all Italy's
olive oil) that cover low, fertile hills rolling down into the
sparkling blue-green Adriatic Sea. On a clear day you can see
across to Albania.
Wine lovers will enjoy tasting the local grapes - the region was
once known as "the wine cellar of Europe".
Sicily
It's more than an island! Discover Sicily and discover the world.
The world's first multicultural society, Sicily is Italy's (and
Europe's) most historically cosmopolitan region, having been ruled
by Asians, Africans and Europeans. Sicily is black and white and
a million shades of gray. There's no other place on Earth like
Sicily.
Trentino
offers you cultural and natural resources as well as a journey
into its history and spoils you with clean water, pure air and
beautiful surroundings.
This area features traditions and values of the people as well
as agricultural products, and reflects the harmony of nature and
culture, man and the environment, well-being and hospitality.
